There are deeper levels of maturity, deeper levels of discipleship, and ever-deeper responses to which we are called by Jesus. The challenges Jesus lays out in scripture speak to us in different ways at different times in our lives. The classical mystics distinguished three separate phases to our journey, both human and spiritual:
the struggle to get our lives together; the struggle to give our lives away; and the struggle to give our deaths away.
These sessions will try to trace out an overview of our human and spiritual struggles, what those struggles call us to, and what spiritual direction is meant to address at each level.
